Bolt heads before , showing corrosion and after damascene. Bushing receiving same treatment. Notice that there reamains some minor piting on the bolt damascene surface. This is allowed as too much material would have to be removed in order to get rid of the deepest corrosion pits and scratches. All wheel teet are cleaned, polished and lacquered. Lacquering does not affect performance on a clocks at this large a scale. Once assembled and running for a few days, the lacquer is rubbed off the bearing surfaces of the teeth and appear as a white dust that is wiped off.
