Sargent & Greenleaf, Rochester, New York - 4 movements, Model P
A. Model P, later No. 6402. This may have been a prototype of this design. Custom mount for the snubber bar has been fitted to the case. No bolt is present it used a side extension to hook into the bolt work thus there is no dog within the case to block the bolt work. Since only the largest vaults had four movement time locks, it's unlikely that an automatic bolt throwing system would have been practical in that size. The case itself is slightly smaller than the standard Model O design. Serial number on the case is 1. Much later 'H' sized movements #2853, 4072, 4156, 4289 file 22 B. Model P. Same as above now in regular production. Snubber bar has slightly different configuration from the earlier prototype above. This example about 1920. Case #P-164. Movements #4106, 4188, 4189, 4339. file 118 Last photo shows what appears to be a Sargent and Greenleaf type Model P time lock in a large vault door. |
