BAVARIAN (GERMAN) MAKER UNKNOWN, c.1750 Three train, quarter strike. Side-by-side birdcage, forged iron frame secured entirely by wedges. Recoil (anchor) escapement. No maintaining power. One and one-quarter second pendulum with forged strip rod. Bob made of limestone. 38"w x 29"h x 20"d. This clock actually looks a older than it is. It was probably made locally, in a smaller, more rural area of Germany. Contrast this with the finer work of the Dutch clock with verge escapement from the late1600's.
