Bankers Dustproof Time Lock Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, 2 movements, manual boltwork

Bankers Dustproof Time Lock Co. was acquired in 1906 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Victor Safe & Lock. According to John Erroll it may have been either directly acquired or through a second party from the Consolidated Time Lock Co. which ceased operation around this time.¹ The Bankers brand disappeared in 1915 and coincided with the appearance of Mosler time locks based on movement designs very similar to those of the Bankers product using the same seventy-two hour 18-size pocket watch movements from the Illinois Watch Co. The Victor Safe & Lock Co would later become a part of Mosler.²

c. 1907. Case# 2650, interior case stamp #3, movements #2052899, #3824032. I have reason to believe that the actual number of this two movement model made are related to the interior case number stamped, not that on the door. This author has seen only one other incomplete two movement Bankers Dustproof example. I believe the door number may be related to the total production number of time locks made by Banker's. There are so few known of this two movement model (two so far) that the interior stamp is the actual production run. The other example is stamped #5 inside the case and #2348 on the door. file 353

Below is a photo comparing the two and more common three movement versions of the time locks designed to be used in safe and vaults that have manually operated bolt work.
